"Access control"

Control of people’s access to a building is a fundamental aspect of its security. The objective of the system is the detection and identification of individual persons on the basis of their authorisation profile. Access to the building and/or the various areas that comprise it is determined by the authentication procedure and generally permission depends on two factors: time/date and the appropriate credentials. There are different types of authentication that vary substantially according to the method of recognition used. Alphanumeric codes, badges, electronic proximity keys, finger prints, iris or facial recognition techniques can all be used, singly or in combination. In Building Automation, the access supervision system is emblematic of the whole in that it is the presence of people in the different areas that determines the activation or deactivation of the anti-trespass, lighting and air conditioning systems, thereby reducing the running costs while raising the level of security.
